Kitty Kelly wanted to go for a stroll through the French Quarter toward Jackson Square and St Louis Cathedral. Her mother allowed her the outing but insisted that Kelly Kitten bring her parasol.

"This is New Orleans," her mother told her. "If it doesn't rain, the sun will attempt to boil you alive."

Dutifully, Kelly took the parasol and walked away down Elysian Fields and towards Decatur.
