Over the course of 1888, in the overcrowded section of London known as Whitechapel, an unknown killer took the lives of five women.

 

Elizabeth Stride, known as Long Liz, was born in Sweden in 1843. She married in 1869 to John Thomas Stride although their marriage was a tumultuous one. She was known to claim she'd lost her husband and nine children in a tragic steamer sinking.

 

On the night of Sept 30, 1888, she was brutally murdered by the man whom we've come to know only as Jack the Ripper
