Sometimes Frida felt like more than one person. She enjoyed her beauty rituals, braiding her hair with colored ribbon, applying rouge, and selecting her favorite pieces of colorful, antique jewelry, but other times she longed to emphasize a different aspect of herself. She enjoyed dressing up in masculine suits and darkening the hair on her upper lip. She never felt like she needed to fit into some traditional box of what is "feminine". Frida was always Frida, whether in her most feminine clothes or in a more masculine mode.
