Every neighborhood in New Orleans has its guardian, some walk on two legs, and others on four.

Esplanade Lady began as a photograph taken along Esplanade Avenue, a stretch of pastel houses shaded by ancient oaks. Into that quiet street, a new protector appeared: a blue-eyed cat, regal and unbothered, watching over the cobblestones like she’s been doing it for centuries.

Through digital collage, the ordinary becomes enchanted, blooms unfurl across the frame like spells in motion, and the city takes on a hushed, dreamlike glow. It’s a portrait of the French Quarter’s softer magic, the kind that hums in sunlight and shadow alike.

Because every storyteller in New Orleans knows: the city belongs to the cats.
