As an artist, I have repeatedly used a young Victorian girl in my art series. This character, whom I affectionately refer to as "Art Girl," often carries a paintbrush, symbolizing the creativity and imagination of childhood. Through her, I explore and express my own inner child, creating a relatable and personal connection with my viewers.
Although I haven't used Art Girl in my recent work as much, I just completed a piece featuring her getting ready to visit a "Rainbow Gallery" in New Orleans. The reference to a gallery filled with colorful and vibrant artwork reinforces the sense of wonder and curiosity that Art Girl embodies. By placing her in this context, I invite my viewers to join me on this journey and experience the excitement of exploring new art, just as I hope to connect with many new people as I travel around southern Louisiana this spring and early summer.
