This past weekend, I had the joy of being part of BREC’s Arts Fest, and I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you.
Thank you to everyone at BREC for creating space for local artists, makers, and dreamers to share what we do. Events like this matter. They bring people together, spark conversations, and remind me how much I love being part of a creative community here in Louisiana. I’m deeply grateful for the work that goes into making festivals like this happen.
Thank you, too, to everyone who stopped by my booth, looked closely, asked questions, shared kind words, or took a piece of my work home. Every conversation matters to me. Every bit of support matters. As an artist, so much of this work happens quietly and behind the scenes, so weekends like this feel especially meaningful.
And now, I do have one small favor to ask.
I’m honored to be nominated for Best Visual Artist in the 225, and I would be so grateful for your vote.
If my work has ever spoken to you, if you’ve followed my art journey, visited my booth, shared my work, or supported what I do in any way, I’d love your help. Community support is what keeps independent artists going, and this nomination means a lot to me.
Voting is open through April 8, and every vote truly helps.
I’m also excited to share that my improv team, Something Else, is nominated as well. If you’ve laughed with us, come to a show, shared a post, or cheered us on from afar, I’d be so grateful if you’d consider voting for Something Else too. This team means a lot to me, and it’s been such a joy to create weird, funny, unexpected things together. Your support for local performers and artists truly matters, and every vote helps.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting local art. Thank you for helping me keep making strange, story-filled work for strange and wonderful souls.
With love and gratitude,
Loveday Funck
