From Broken Mirrors to Painted Dreams: Creating Art After Narcissistic Abuse

Eight years. That's how long I spent staring into a funhouse mirror, a distorted reflection of myself warped by someone who needed me to be small to feel big.  It took a long, hard look – and a deep, shattering crack – for me to finally break free.

Leaving was a fight, a scramble for lost pieces of myself scattered on the floor. But with each shard I picked up, a flicker of light ignited within. It was the embers of creativity, long doused by self-doubt and manipulation, yearning to burn again.

Here's what I learned, what keeps me warm in the aftermath:

1. Cracks Can Become Cathedrals: They say the broken pieces of a mosaic tell the most beautiful stories. The pain you endured, the strength it took to leave – these are the raw materials of your art. Don't shy away from the cracks; let them inform your work, imbue it with a depth only authenticity can bring.

2. Your Voice Matters: Narcissistic abuse thrives on silencing. But you're free now. Let your art be your roar, your whisper, your battle cry. Use it to share your story, to validate the stories of others.

3. Untamed Creativity is a Weapon: They tried to control your narrative. Now, reclaim it. In your art, explore the vibrant, messy, magnificent person you are, unfiltered. Don't be afraid to surprise yourself, to push boundaries, to create something gloriously unexpected.

4. You Are the Architect of Your Dreams: For years, you were molded and manipulated. Now, you get to build. Let your art be the foundation of your new world.  This is where my project, the The Art of Resilience: Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Oracle, comes in. It's a testament to the power of reclaiming your intuition, a tool to guide you on your path to healing and self-discovery.

Creating art after narcissistic abuse is an act of defiance, a reclamation of your voice and your power. It's a testament to the human spirit's ability to rise from the ashes, stronger and more beautiful than before.

This journey won't be easy, but it will be transformative. You are the artist, and your resilience is your greatest masterpiece.

And to those of you still trapped in the funhouse mirror, remember: the cracks can become cathedrals. You are strong. You are worthy. And your voice is waiting to be heard.

Together, let's create a chorus so loud, it drowns out the lies.

P.S. To help fuel this artistic revolution, I've launched a crowdfunding campaign for my oracle deck, the Art of Resilience: Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Oracle. It's a tool for self-discovery and healing, especially for those who have experienced narcissistic abuse.  If you resonate with this message, please consider supporting the project on Indiegogo: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-art-of-resilience-narcissistic-abuse-recovery/x/472078#/
